I cannot possibly tell my entire story in a limited website.  The drama of my life is in the details, and those details may one day be read in a book.  But what I've tried to capture is some of the flavor of my life.  No day goes by without a blooper or two as well.  Everyday is an adventure and when you are blind, can't smell, and are as willing and able to get out there and just live and do, things are bound to happen.  For example, while walking down the sidewalk in Utah, I walked into a 6 foot deep construction ditch and landed on my feet straddling a gas pipe!  A very close call, but all I could do is jump out and laugh.  Tree limbs, fire hydrants, fences, guard rails, light poles, curbs, cars and pedestrians are hazards I navigate daily.  Dealing with wrong directions, missing the last bus or train for the day, are added inconveniences.  I've learned to adapted to my lack of sight and smell.  My cane is the obvious instrument that helps me navigate, but I can also SEE objects just by sound.  By snapping my fingers, or just listing to other noises bounce off objects, I can quite easily SEE what is around me through a technique called echo location.  I am extremely knowledgeable in reading and writing in brail.  I use a small template, index cards and a stylus to write brail.  I had a guide dog at one point but my roommate at the time wasn't very nice and spooked my dog to the point he could no longer do his job.  Oh, and by the way, that roommate soon after was arrested for homicide in an unrelated case.  Just another notch in my crazy life.  And besides, although I loved my dog, I am so mobile, and my life skills are such that the guide dog actually slowed me down.

The main purpose of this web site is to not gain sympathy, but to show the world who Mark Woodard is.  I live an extraordinary, unusual and interesting life.  I believe that all the trials and tribulations of my life have happened for a reason and that reason is to help others.  I come across so many amazing and wonderful people in my travels and all seem to be amazed at what I can do.  This is my way of giving back.  If you would like to know more about my story, or would like to have me give a motivational or inspirational talk to your class, group, club, team, or gathering feel free to contact me.  If you have a sight impaired person in your life that may need a mentor, friend or life coach, I would love to help.  If you are seeking massage therapy assistance, I'm your man, as I am a certified massage therapist.  Or, if you would like to know more about my health and wellness business venture, please let me know or you can check out my business website at www.markawoodard.le-vel.com

You can also follow me on YouTube                                             , as I post many video clips of my daily travels that may be INSPIRATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, or may just provide a LAUGH.

Thank you for taking the time to check out this website, and I hope to SEE you soon!
